The Russell Fork and Towers Hike

Breaks Interstate Park in Haysi Virginia is the home of the Russell Fork river and this awesome rock feature called the Towers that Robby and I had seen in past trips. We both agreed that it looked like an awesome spot to try to reach. After paddling the river the day before we decided to paddle down to a landmark on the river and bushwhack it up to the kniferidge and out to the peak. It was well worth the effort, but you can tell by the pictures that the briars were not friendly and at certain points you just had to trudge forward and take the pain. The Russell Fork is an awesome place right smack dab in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains.
